Infants receiving more than 500ml of formula per day will not need vitamin D drops as formula milk is already fortified with vitamin D – this means that all exclusively formula fed infants are supplemented from birth.
When an infant starts to consume formula in conjunction with solid foods they should be given vitamin D drops of 400IU/day
Vitamin D supplements are available at most pharmacies and supermarkets, via amazon,or for free if you are eligible for the government’s Healthy Start Scheme.
